September 29 HIS Abundant Promises! Psalm 138:7

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me.” (Psalm 138:7)

Wow! It would be amazing if we were promised a “Rose Garden” existence, where we would never experience troubles or challenges in our lives! How great would it be to travel through this life carefree and never have a worry or difficulty? Well, Heads up! This is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! God has not promised a “trouble-free” existence; however, He has promised that He would be with us, every step, along this journey of life! He has promised that He would be with us, walking beside of us, but He has not promised to deliver us from a “Trouble-Free” life! Recently, this “Pillsbury Doughboy Pastor” has been faced with some difficult and challenging circumstances that have caused me to stop and re-evaluate my path forward. A beautiful lady, just a few days ago, shared with me the obstacles and difficulties that she was facing, and she was enduring with faith and determination, and I felt so ashamed for my “Whining” about my little issues, so I stopped, dropped and asked my God to forgive me for my doubts and my failures to claim His Abundant Promises! In the midst of every challenge of this life, God’s unshakeable promise of God to Save, Sustain, and to Maintain us, is fully active and alive! We must claim His Promise and live it every day! When you face difficult times, and you will, remember the promise of God! “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me.” God will never abandon you! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” (Hosea 10:12)

Would you like to witness a miracle? Would you like to make a difference in the life of an individual? Well, try this: Plant a word of encouragement and love into that person’s life. Continue to nurture and cultivate it with a friendly smile and a committed prayer life, and watch what happens, before your eyes! Our culture has a habit of sowing negative and “hate-filled” rhetoric and the atmosphere of 21st century America is replete with divisions and chaos and unhealthy decisions and sadness and despair. Let’s be the purveyor of “Positive and Uplifting” words of Hope and Goodness! Try it… compliment your neighbor (and mean it), send flowers to your spouse, visit a widow, be grateful to a waitress, speak a kind word to a stranger! Sowing seeds of His Love and His Peace is like sowing seeds! You do not know the mechanics of how it works; you just know that it does! Seeds of Kindness will produce kindness and the more we sow, the stronger we become and the greater the opportunity to “Share Jesus!” Random acts of Love and Kindness will always produce positive, lifechanging results! Keep Sowing, Keep Nurturing, Keep Believing and Continue to “Push Back the Darkness” in the lives of everyone that you encounter! Speak the Truth in Love and watch our God work in the lives of those around us! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

“Being a Part of the Healing”

September 26 “Being a Part of the Healing” Ephesians 4:31-32

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Growing up in an area that produces a tremendous number of chickens, I learned some interesting facts about raising chickens. I discovered that the farmers would trim the beaks of the chicks. I was told that if one chick falls and gets hurt, the other chicks that are around the hurt one, would peck the wound with their sharp beaks and create an even larger sore. I understand that there have been times when the sore would even get infected and fester. Wow! When I thought about this fact, I began to speculate about our human behavior. What happened when one of our fellow Christian believers falls? How do we respond? Do we have a tendency to “peck away” at the transgression, with gossip, whispers of criticism, stares, cold-shoulders? The reality is that even one peck can deepen their pain and make the wound larger and deeper and difficult to heal! The farmer’s solution may not be a bad idea, after all! Do you think that Jesus is calling on us to “trim our beaks?” We should lift one another up and pray for one another and we should treat others with compassion and forgiveness and kindness and respect! REMEMBER: ‘BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD, THERE I GO…” I want to be a part of the healing, not the hurting! It is critical for our Spiritual Maturity to be “Christ-Like” in everything that we say and do! September 24 Continue Learning Proverbs 1:5

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” (Proverbs 1:5)

Have you ever heard the statement that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?” I am here to tell you that God can and does teach old dog’s new tricks! It is important for believers to continue to seek His face and to continue to “dig” deep into His Holy Word, and to continue to learn and to experience His Grace and to be prepared to share and teach about His Love and His Amazing Grace! One thing that my Daddy hammered into my head was the fact that knowing something in our minds and knowing how to apply it or, doing it, are two different things! Folks, God expects us to continue to grow in His Grace and in our Knowledge of Him, with the goal of increasing our “closeness” to Him and to enhance our relationship and to be “effective” witnesses for Him. We must be “Life-Long” Learners, and we must continue to Learn about Him and to continue to Lean on Him and continue to Grow in Him and to experience the “Abundant Living” that He has ordained for us to experience! What God does with you is up to you! It always has, and it always will! Keep Learning, Keep Loving, Keep Experiencing, Keep Sharing, Keep Enjoying His Bounty, and Never, Ever, stop Growing in Him! September 23 DEVOTIONS… Galatians 6:9-10

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10)

In April of 2020, at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic, I started to post the morning devotions as a method to keep our church family connected through God’s Holy Word. We are past the pandemic, and I am continuing to create, write and post a devotion, each morning. There are times when I think that the time has come to suspend the devotions, or to post them once a week, however, I will receive a note, a text, or an email sharing how much the morning devotions mean to that person, and I realize that the original goal has been achieved and with even greater results. These devotions are reaching more people than I would ever reach inside the church walls on a Sunday morning! So, I will continue to pray, research, create, write and post a devotion every morning, and when I am away, our Deacons will post a morning devotion. It continues to be a learning experience for me and, although challenging to keep the devotions fresh and relevant, I look forward to each new day! Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Therefore, you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates…” (Deuteronomy 11:18-20)

Would you say that the Church, that organized body of believers, is growing in true holiness? Is the Church prioritizing the Word of God, and allowing it to be the Foundation of Witness and of Ministry? Every generation has had and will have the opportunity to “Fix His Words in Our Hearts and Minds,” and to make a difference in this world, for Jesus! The biggest and best way to make God’s Holy Word a priority in our churches, is to make His Word a priority in our lives! The world and all of its evil influences and the nature of Satan as the corruptor of good and the chief instigator of evil, are ready to thwart the good news, the cause of Christ, and the Holiness of the witness of the Church! Friends, it is easy to be swayed and influenced by this world, but our priority MUST be True Holiness! The BIBLE, God’s Holy Word, must be our Guide, our Foundation and our Standard! Our Standard should not be Culture, Politics, Media Influence, Propaganda of the World, or any other aspect that would take our focus away from the truth of God’s Holy Word! Church, fix your minds on the truth and allow God to teach and guide you, through the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to infuse you with Holiness, so that you are ready to take on the evil that is ahead! FACT: When we LIVE His Word, we will, Naturally, grow in Holiness! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Be Prepared to Share

September 21 Be Prepared to Share Acts 19:8-10

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. 9 But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. 10 And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.” (Acts 19:8-10)

One of the skills that my parents insisted that I develop is the ability to make a clear, logical and well-defined agreement for my faith in Jesus Christ and the requirements to fulfill such a skill. Unfortunately, their encouragement of this skill also “drove them to distraction,’ When I would employ the “Powers of Persuasion” to make my point! My daddy said that I needed to be confident and prepared to share my faith with others, be prepared to proclaim God’s Holy Word in every situation and to never back down from the truth! When I read of Paul teaching and preaching in the synagogue, speaking boldly and with the divinely inspired conviction of his faith, and continuing to articulate his message of Hope and of Redemption, I am inspired and filled with the Hope of Glory! Every day, in so many ways, I am presented with challenges to my faith and the opportunity to defend my beliefs and to share the Amazing Power of the Redeeming Blood of Jesus! We may not ever experience the same situations that Paul experienced, but we are called to be prepared to respond to every question, and to depend on God’s Grace for the Answers! BE PREPARED! THINK ABOUT THE QUESTIONS THAT ONE MIGHT ASK YOU, TO CATCH YOU “OFF-GUARD,” AND BE PREPARED TO SHARE THE TRUTH OF GOD’S LOVE! I am so very grateful for my early training in preparing to share Jesus, in every situation! BE PREPARED! STUDY, MEMORIZE HIS WORD, ANTICIPATE THE OPPOSITION, AND PROCLAIM HIS GOOD NEWS! Paul preached and taught for two years in the same place! SHARE, PREACH, TEACH right where you are! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

September 20 In Obedience Micah 6:8

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

Are Christians supposed to look different from the world? Are we supposed to always carry a Bible with us? Are we supposed to memorize every hymn in the songbook? Are we supposed to be at every function of the church and remain afterwards to clean up? Listen, we are supposed to be different, we are supposed to attend church, we are supposed to read our Bibles and to share God’s word, that is not all! The mark of the True Believer isn’t as simple and easy as being “Busy!” The Scriptures clearly informs us that we are to act with “Justice” towards one another, and to Love Mercy (God has provided His mercy through Jesus Christ), and we are to “Walk” Humbly before our God and our fellowmen! This requirement is genuinely simple, but not always easy! Give it a try! The rewards are amazing! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

September 19 HIS Perfect Love 1 John 4:18

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)

I believe that Love is the most amazing and beautiful thing in this entire world. Think about it! God’s Love, His Amazing Love, is the wellspring of all the best and greatest that can be obtained! His free gift of Salvation, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us, His Spiritual blessings and His Promise of Blessings right here, right now! Of all the blessings and gifts from God, HIS LOVE IS SUPREME! I struggle to understand this Divine Love that God has for mankind and the reason is that HIS LOVE does not look like my Love! Again, Think about it! Our Love is based on “Feelings,” but HIS LOVE is not! Our Love is based on how we feel, HIS LOVE is based on who He is! Praise God… He says that He Loves us and that is that! He will never go back on His word to us! Love is not natural for humanity, but with God, we can put on His nature and the Holy Spirit, and we can develop Godly motivations and selfless love that will bring honor to God and will help others to embrace GOD’S LOVE and be a part of the miracle that is God’s ultimate example of Love, SALVATION through JESUS CHRIST! I continue to seek His Love and to live this love each day! I want His Type of Love to direct my life; that unwavering, eternal, and divinely beautiful love that will lead others to Jesus! Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Several years ago, when I was going through a very difficult time, one of my aunts sent this reminder to me, and I carry it with me every day! It has continued to encourage me, and I trust that it will encourage you!

Don’t Give Up!

“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, when funds are low and debts are high, And you want to smile but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, REST, if you must, but don’t you quit!”

Aunt Reba continues to remind me that things will go wrong, and I have a choice to trust God or not! I am so grateful for the encouragement and prayers of so many beautiful people that keep reminding me that “the Lord goes before me and that He is with me, and that He will never leave me or turn His back on me!” BE ENCOURAGED! He promised that He would NEVER QUIT on Us, and I WILL NEVER QUIT ON HIM! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
